Riggins

Riggins Ali Reed
November 15, 2000 - May 18, 2011

We had to make the tough, tough decision to have Riggins put to sleep. He had a spinal injury that caused him to lose control of his bodily functions. Additionally, he lost movement of his back left leg and tail.

Nicholas understood that Riggins was sick. He loved petting him to make him feel better.
Reagan was scared of him and screamed anytime Riggins looked at her. (I'm not sure why she decided to get this close to him for this picture.)

My favorite memories of Riggins:

  • When Riggins was a puppy, we were driving home from Mike's parents' house. Mike was driving and I was in the passenger seat with Riggins on my lap. As we approached the stop sign near their house, Riggins jumped out the window!

  • Anytime in the snow... It was so funny watching him jump through the snow!

  • Taking Riggins to Puppy Kindergarten... Mike and I went to puppy kindergarten for weeks. I spent hours working with Riggins in the backyard. He loved snausages, knew he would get them, so he mastered all the skills. When it was time for the Puppy Kindergarten certification test, Riggins was a pro for about the first two skills. However, when he figure out that he wasn't allowed to get treats during the test, he protested and didn't pass any of the remaining skills. Yep - he failed Puppy Kindergarten!

  • We live in a housing development that constantly has people walking and riding bikes. Whenever our one neighbor, Bob, would walk by, Riggins would get so excited that he would pee all over him!

  • Trips to Cowens Gap
Even though Riggins drove me crazy, I still miss him!

Easter Egg Hunt

Happy Belated Easter!!

Like last year, the company where Mike works sponsored an Easter Egg Hunt.

Unlike last year, Reagan participated. It's hard to believe that I had her in a Baby Bjorn, strapped to my chest last year during the egg hunt!

Nicholas and Reagan checking out their goodies!

After the egg hunt, we checked out the cranes on display that Daddy builds.

Look how big this one is! Yeah, that's Nicholas standing beside that huge tire!

Lots of fun!

Penn State Reads

Our local library participated in the Penn State Reads program...

Guess who was the special guest? (No, it wasn't Joe Paterno!)
It was the Nittany Lion!

How awesome is that?

We listened to three stories about Penn State, did a craft, got the Lion's autograph, and ate ice cream.

I expected a huge crown, but luckily for us only a few people showed up! Too many local Mountaineer and Terrapin fans :(

Actually, I think it wasn't advertised very well.

WE ARE... PENN STATE!

Future Engineers?

Nicholas and Reagan's new, fun thing to do...

They empty our kitchen pantry to build cities. Wow! Look at the ravioli skyscraper and the Gerber Graduates road!

Bad Blogger

I have been such a bad blogger! It's been 1 1/2 months since my last post! The main reason...

... my new iPhone!
I always had a cell phone from work, so Mike always thought it was a waste of money to also have a personal cell phone. The one problem with that logic was that my work cell phone was not 'cool'. So, when I heard that anyone at work that had low usage on his/her cell phone would get it taken away, the wheels in my head started turning!
I purposely had low usage on my work cell for about three months so that it would be taken away from me (yeah, I know... kind of devious, but it worked!)
At the end of March, I turned in my work cell. It was perfect timing because my birthday was the beginning of April. For my birthday present, Mike broke down and bought me an iPhone. Yeah!!
So, I mentioned that it was my birthday last month... Well, I turned 35. Ugh - I can't believe it. Anyway, it takes us 'older' people longer to figure out all this new technology! I remember the Zack Morris phone I had my senior year in college. It was so much easier to use... impossible to carry around in my pocket though :)

Anyway, does anyone know about any cool apps I should download?
